COARSE FISHING RULES

1. That a member when fishing may have more than one rod set up but must only use one rod when fishing.

2. No member shall leave their chair/box/basket and then fish tin another position.

3. There are no barred baits on any of Trows waters.

4. General fishing shall cease at midnight on the day before a match on the Bottom Lodge.

5. No rod with line and hook baited shall be left unattended in or out of the water.

6. Disgorgers and assembled nets must be taken out when commencing to fish.

7. Members are requested to ensure that NO LITTER is left on the banks.

8. Keepnets shall be of a size of not less than 14 ins. min. size max. ring squ. nets 14 ins. diagonal and a length of not less than 6 ft.

9. Any person maltreating fish in any manner will be brought before and dealt with by the Committee.

10. No hook greater in size than No. 10 shall be used.

11. Day Tickets. All guests must obtain a day ticket before commencing to fish.

                                                     MATCH FISHING RULES

1.All matches shall be under the control of a Committee Member, who may co-opt other members to help him if he so wishes.

2.No member shall fish a match unless he is equipped with a disgorger, landing net and keepnet as defined.

3.No member shall leave his peg until “ALL OUT” unless he receives the permission of a steward.

4.No more than two hooks may be used.

5.No spinning allowed in matches.

6.No live baiting allowed in matches.

7.No member shall move more than 3ft. from his peg.

8.Each member shall be responsible for the weighing of his own fish.

9.The steward’s decision shall be final.

10.On home waters the angler shall not overcast centre of lodge nor half distance to next peg.

11.Members will be allowed to plumb the depth and insert keepnets before the “ALL IN”.

12.The Club will fund in all club matches a first prize of £7, a second prize of £5 and a third prize of £3.

13.A member or guest who fails to attend or remove their names 7 days prior to away matches will be liable to the cost of the trip. and the member shall not fish subsequent matches until monies owing have been paid. Failure to pay will result in monies owing being added to the following years subscriptions.

14.Disabled or infirm anglers may draw from pegs 1-16 prior to the main draw. Having chosen a preferred peg, an angler must continue to do so for the remainder of that season.

                                                         MISCELLANEOUS

1.Keys to the club premises and gates can be obtained on loan from the Secretary on payment of a deposit of £10.

Constitution

1.That this society shall be called Rochdale & District Angling Society.

2.The objects of the society shall be to extend the art of angling among all classes and creeds, so far as relates to freshwater fishing and to provide a common meeting place where anglers can commune on their hobby. Lectures on fish culture, natural history and its relation to all kinds of freshwater fish and their habits will be undertaken. Papers on essays on fish, tackle and experience are invited. In the event of the dissolution of the Society, the assets shall be disposed of in a manner to be decided by the then members, but no member shall receive from the proceeds of sale of these assets, any personal gain in either monies or kind. Assets such as land, buildings, ground rents or fish stocks may be purchased by a member at a price to be governed by an independent valuer, under normal market conditions. The monies shall go to charities, to any movement promoting the advancement of the sport of angling, or any research foundation to advance the husbandry of fish. The Society shall always be open to not less than one hundred members.

3.That the funds of the Society shall be administered by the Committee and Officials for the sole benefit of the Club as a corporate body and no member shall benefit in any personal way from these funds.

4.It shall be conducted by a President, Treasurer, Secretary and also a Committee of nine who shall be elected for twelve months in February Annual General Meeting, by a majority of the members present.

5.That the Committee shall meet each month and a quorum shall be of four members plus officials.

6.A Bar Committee shall be elected at the A.G.M and the running of the bar shall be their responsibility.

7.Any member having a vote at a General Meeting, shall, if he gains support of not less than one fifth (20%) of the members, be entitled to call a special Meeting.

8.This Committee shall have the power to fill any vacancies that may occur in the Committee and co-opt additional members as they see fit. They shall exercise a general control over the affairs and the property of the Society, and have the power to FINE, CENSURE, SUSPEND, or EXPEL any member for misconduct, and to make such byelaws as may be expedient subject to their approval at the next A.G.M. to be confirmed as a general rule or rescinded.

9.The President or in his absence an elected Chairman shall take the chair at all meetings of the Club and in the event of an equality of voting shall have an additional or casting vote.

10.The Treasurer shall pay all monies received by the Club to the credit of an account opened in the name of the Club, and further, shall keep such accounts and pay such debt as the Committee shall direct, and at each meeting render an account of any monies received and expended by him. He shall present an audited balance sheet to the members at A.G.M., after which it shall be displayed on the Club premises.

11.The Secretary shall keep upon the Club premises a register of names and addresses of all the Club members. He shall also keep a book recording payment by members. He shall carry out directions of the Committee, and shall receive monies on account of the Club, delivering such into the hands of the Treasurer. He shall also keep a book in which he shall record the transactions of each meeting of the Society, and immediately upon the President taking the chair, he shall read the minutes of the last meeting. A member on application to the Secretary shall be supplied with a copy of the rules of the Society.

12.That the subscription and entrance fee be increased each year by the current rate of inflation and shall be paid not later than the date of the A.G.M., after which it will be assumed that those not having paid have resigned, where upon they must return their keys to the Secretary.

13.That a person wishing to become a member must be proposed and seconded at a monthly meeting after his proposal form has been returned to the Secretary and been on display for not less than seven days on the Club premises. He must recieve a majority vote of the members present and be in attendance with the proposer at the meeting, but upon being proposed he shall leave the room until accepted. If at the date of application, the membership of the society is full on the payment of £5 (non refundable) his name shall be placed on the waiting list along with the proposer and dealt with when a vacancy is available. Full membership shall be 400 paying members.

14. Members shall cease to become members via the following:                                                                                                                                                         (a) by non payment of subscription

(b) by expulsion                                                                                                                                           

(c) by resignation                

15.That any member desirous of bringing forward business to be discussed at a meeting must notify the Secretary of the same in writing before the date of the meeting.

16.That a member having complaint of any kind, must report the same to an official of the Club as soon as possible, failing which, he shall lose his rights of objection.

17.That Honorary Life Membership be granted to gentlemen at the age of 65 years but must have 10 years unbroken service, distinguished or long service rendered to the Society.

18.The hours during which intoxicating liquor shall be supplied to the members for consumption either on or off the premises shall be determined by the licensing laws permitted at the time.

19.That in case of an emergency, the President and Officials have the power to act without the formality of calling a committee meeting. 

20.A member may personally introduce a friend as his guest but not more than two occasions in any one month from 15th March to 30th September and not more than four occasions from 1st October to 14th March. The visitor and member introducing him shall sign their names in a book kept for that purpose. These conditions shall not apply to his wife or other lady. Members must accompany guests introduced by them during their stay and no guest shall be permitted to make payment for intoxicating liquor, directly or indirectly.

21.That only on urgent or special business shall the Secretary notify members of meetings.

22.That every member upholds the traditions of a sportsman. Also, that each member shall be a Bank Ranger, shall assist in the maintenance of the waters in whatever way possible and also to assist the Committee.

23.That all cases not provided for by these rules shall be dealt with by the Committee and be subject to approval of the next General Meeting.

JUNIOR MEMBERS

  1. Junior membership is only available to children under the age of 16 who is a direct relative of a current Adult or Senior paying member. (child or grandchild)
  2. No children under 16 can be left unsupervised while on the complex.
  3. Juniors must fish next to or nearby the adult accompanying them.
  4. When I child becomes 17 they will become a paying member on our intermediate membership.
